Definition
Characteristics of individuals and households as reported to the Census. Household-level characteristics currently available on this site include age of householder, housing cost burden, household size in persons, household income as a percentage of the area median income (AMI), tenure, and disability. Individual-level characteristics include age, household income as a percentage of AMI, disability, and housing cost burden.
Where to Find Data on this Site
- The Household Demographic Data allows the user to create custom data request combining one or more of the following: age of householder, cost burden, household income as a percentage of area median income, household size in persons, and tenure.
- The Special Needs Household Characteristics: General Housing and Demographic Characteristics tool allows the user to create counts of households based on one or more of the following indicators: presence of a person with a disability age 15 or older, tenure, age of householder, household size, household income as a percentage of area median income, and cost burden.
- The Special Needs Household Characteristics: Substandard Housing, Income, and Cost Burden tool allows the user to create counts of households based on one or more of the following indicators: presence of a person with a disability age 15 or older, substandard housing conditions, household income as a percentage of area median income, and cost burden.
