Rent

Definition

Payment to owner of a housing unit for use of the unit for residential purposes. "Contract rent" is the monthly rent agreed to or contracted for, regardless of any furnishings, utilities, fees, meals, or services that may be included. "Gross rent" is the contract rent plus the estimated average monthly cost of utilities (electricity, gas, water and sewer) and fuels if these are paid by the renter.
