Affordability

Definition

Relative percentage of income spent for rent or mortgage costs. Housing is generally considered to be "affordable" if it costs no more than 30 percent of household income.

  1. The annual State of Florida's Housing report ranks Florida counties according to a housing Affordability Index. The index compares the median family income to the amount necessary to qualify to purchase a median-priced home.
